Glen Emmets bowed out of the 2010 Junior Championship after suffering a 5 point defeat at the hands of Sean Mc Dermotts on John Mitchells pitch on Saturday afternoon.

The game started lively when Sean Mc Dermotts hit the crossbar after a minute. The first score of the game came when a pass from Stephen Murphy to Eamon Mullen saw Mullen pass back to the on running Murphy for Murphy to point from the right hand side of the goal on 3 mins. A long ball in from the Seans midfield found there no 10 who then rounded his marker Andrew Mooney and bet Emmets keeper Fergus Barnett with a sweet finish to the bottom left hand corner of the net from 6 yards out on 5 mins. Seans no 10 then pointed after 7 mins after Tom Grimes was caught in possesion. A foul by Andrew Mooney on the Seans no10 saw the resulting free kicked over the bar by the Seans no 15 on 15 mins. The Seans went on to score a further 3 pts in a row on 19, 21 and 23 mins to give themselves a 7 point lead as half-time approached. A brace of points from Emmets forward Mark Noone on 30 and 33 mins left the Half-Time score Glen Emmets 0-03pts Sean Mc Dermotts 1-05pts.

The second half started with a point from Eamon Mullen after a min but Seans cancelled this out with a point after 7 mins. A Danny Grimes point on 10 mins saw the Emmets reduce the Seans lead to 4 points. On 11 mins the game looked over as the Seans scored 1-01pts in the space of a min but The Emmets suddenly decided to come to life and in the next 5 mins scored 1-03pts all through Danny Grimes to reduce the Seans lead to 2 points with 17 mins of the second half played. The Emmets goal came about after a huge error from the Seans keeper left Danny Grimes with the simple task of tapping the ball into an empty net. The Emmets at this stage seemed to have the upper hand but a foul by Emmets forward Keith Rooney on the Seans no30 saw the Seans no 15 point from the resulting free to put 3 points between the two sides. An Eamon Mullen free on 21 mins saw the Seans lead again reduced to 2 points but this was as close as The Emmets would get as the Seans scored 1-01pt on 23 and 24 mins to effectively end any hope The Emmets had of reaching this years Junior Championship final.Sean Mc Dermotts had their no 11 sent off on 26mins after he received a straight red card for striking Emmets no 22 Keith Lynch. A free From Mark Noone on 28 mins was to be the last score of the game and when the final whistle blew the score board read Glen Emmets 1-10pts Sean Mc Dermotts 3-09pts.
